Standing Up Against Discriminatory Employment Practices
Discrimination can come in many different forms, from getting passed over for a promotion or being denied additional training, to perpetuating or ignoring reports of a hostile work environment.
Federal law prohibits discrimination based on “protected classes,” including but not limited to:
- National origin
In addition, Oregon’s state law protects you against discrimination or retaliation based on sexual orientation and marital status. Sexual harassment is considered a form of sex discrimination, meaning you have the same protections as above. It is unlawful for an employer to retaliate against you for reporting sexual harassment in the workplace.
If you have experienced discrimination or harassment at work, or your employer has retaliated against you for speaking up about problems, Daemie M. Kim can help you.
